For families caring for a parent in Michigan

Caring for your parent? You could be paid for it.

Michigan's Medicaid Home Help program may pay some family members, other than a spouse, to help someone at home. The State decides who qualifies.

Could Home Help fit your family?

Four quick questions about your parent. You'll see what Michigan's Home Help program looks at and what to do next. Your answers stay on this page.

1. Does your parent already get Home Help (a paid Home Help caregiver through MDHHS)?
2. Where does your parent live?
3. Does your parent have Michigan Medicaid?
4. Does your parent need hands-on help from another person with at least one of these: bathing, dressing, eating, using the toilet, grooming, getting in or out of bed or a chair, moving around the home?

Prefer to talk to a person?

How should we reach you?
Is anyone already paid by Michigan's Home Help program for this person's care today?

Please don't include diagnoses, medicines, Medicaid numbers, Social Security numbers or ID numbers. We'll ask about care needs when we talk.

If someone is in danger, call 911. To report abuse or neglect, call Adult Protective Services at 1-855-444-3911.

This is a request to talk. It is not an application for Medicaid or a job.

How it works

  1. Join the waitlist

One email. We ask first whether anyone already gets Home Help, and we write when we open.

  2. We plan to help with the paperwork

We plan to use software to track every step and draft the follow-ups. A person checks each one.

  3. Pay depends on State approval

Pay can start only after the State approves the hours.

Questions

Can I be paid to care for my own parent?

Yes, if they qualify for Michigan's Medicaid Home Help program. Only the State decides who qualifies. A spouse can't be paid, and if you are already paid by the State as their individual caregiver there is a 90-day wait before you could work for us for the same person.

What kind of help is it?

Daily tasks like bathing, dressing, meals, housework and medication reminders. A State caseworker decides which tasks and how many hours.

Do you hire caregivers who aren't family?

We plan to. We aren't hiring yet, but you can tell us your area and when you could work, and we'll contact you when we begin hiring. Everyone we hire will be background-checked before their first visit.

Are you open yet?

Not open yet in Michigan. We're not yet an approved Medicaid provider, so we can't enroll anyone, decide eligibility, arrange payment or offer work today. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day that changes.

Is this a government program?

No. Already Caring is a private company, not a government agency, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Medicaid or any state or federal program.
